Tom Schubert


Tom is a very active advisor to BomBoard, advising us on topics ranging from technical issues and introducing us to excellent local vendors to providing general business advice.

Tom is a major investor in BomBoard and has invested in several other start-up companies that manufacture products.

Tom Schubert founded MRI Devices Corporation in Waukesha, Wisconsin in 1992.The company became the world’s leading supplier of radio frequency coils for MRI systems, with plants in Pewaukee, Wisconsin, Gainesville, Florida, Schwerin, Germany, and Wuerzberg, Germany.

The company also became the world’s leading manufacturer of software based systems for Functional MRI (fMRI), and MRI Guided Breast Biopsy Systems. Customers included GE Healthcare, Siemens Medical Solutions, and Philips Medical Systems, as well as hospitals and clinics around the world.

He served as President and CEO until merging the company with a publicly traded company, Intermagnetics General Corporation of Latham, NY in 2004, in a deal valued at $100M. Tom continued to serve as Chief Technology Officer until the sale of the combined company to Royal Philips Electronics in 2006.

Tom is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering Mechanics. He has authored a number of patents, and chapters in medical textbooks.
